First, I apologize to my readers for not having an updated blog up for a while. It’s been a busy 2 weeks. After I heard about Leo Barten, my neighbor and very good friend since I was 3, passing on in a car accident, I decided to buy plane tickets back to America and attend his funeral. It was a very sad week, but fun when my friends, family and I recollected old times with Leo. Crying and laughing.
I did end up visiting BCLUW High School to see some friends and teachers. Everyone was happy to see me, as I was to see them. I also visited a lot of family and shared what I’ve been doing in Germany 1 on 1.
My flight back to Germany was stressful. I had forgotten my camera, and I almost missed my connecting flight in Atlanta, Georgia. Luckily on the way from Atlanta to Stuttgart, Germany we had a tail wind of 169 mph! We got there in just 7 hours and 45 minutes! After I landed I took the train from Stuttgart to Bietigheim-Bissingen, where I’m living.
It felt good to be back in Germany again. I had missed my host-family, my friends, the foods and my classmates. It was quite difficult catching up on sleep that I had lost with the jet-lag. One night I only had 30 minutes of sleep and I had to go to school the next day. Now my internal clock is finally adjusted and all is well.
Everyone was excited to see me at my German school again, along with the foreigners in my German nightly class that I go to.
In English class, in the school, I’m doing a PowerPoint presentation about Iowa. It should be fun and simple. I only need to speak for 5 minutes.
For the year final (my class does a final at the end of the year after our class-visit to Berlin) I’m in a group with 3 other smart girls. Luckily. We are doing it on life in Germany while it was split into the East Germany and West Germany. It should be interesting.
Next Sunday most Germans light a candle for Advent in their house. And again the following Sunday and so on until Advent is over.
I can’t wait to experience Christmas in Germany.
Gruß,
Mckinly
P.S. I can’t take any pictures until my camera is found. I think I misplaced it back in my house in Iowa.
